Today was a design day - I updated my business card design, post cards and a few other promotional and marketing items, and sent them off to the printer. To honor the memory of my gentle loving dog Hobo, I'll be offering 25% off to clients having Golden Retriever portraits done now until Christmas.

Women and Horses #14

Reno after his grooming
The sunlight coming in the barn is so bright...

I had my Women and Horses class today and I did really well! Looking back, I really wasn't myself last week. After the grooming and leading and all the other exercises we did, I got into the mud letting Reno into the field. My ankle-high boot got stuck and only my foot came out!!! And I was in above my ankles! I had to hold onto the gate (to also keep the horses from coming back into the barn) and stand on one foot while Mona (mustang rescue director) had to get my shoe out of the mud! There is never a dull moment at the rescue with me around! That was some strong suction! It was really like a comedy routine and the other women were watching and wished they had had my camera! Unfortunately my camera was in my pocket. Anyway, I love that Reno! Working with him every week, he's mine for 2 quality hours and he and I both love it!

Commemorative Brick

A group of my very thoughtful and dear friends bought my husband and me a commemorative brick in memory of our beloved Hobo. We were able to choose 3 lines of text to be inscribed on the block, which will be placed in the walk of the Kennebunk Dog Park. The committee chairperson just announced the program as ready to go last week! What a great way to commemorate fun play times at the dog park or honor your ‘best friend’ - by engraving a brick in this lasting memorial. It is a wonderful gift.

A sample brick and order forms are available at Scalawags Pet Boutique, Kennebunkport, and on the Kennebunk Dog Park website.

Pastel Show At RTA

"Wild Ones"
image size 15"x21" - soft pastel

Today is drop-off and hanging of the Pastel Painters of Maine annual members show at River Tree Arts, Kennebunk. Each member is allowed to submit one painting. My piece, 'Wild Ones,' is of a group of wild (feral) mustangs. In conjunction with the show, that opens November 6 and runs until December 12, 3 members are presenting free-to-the-public programs. I'll be doing an animal portrait demonstration Saturday, December 5, 10am-noon. It's always fun to watch an artist start with a blank canvas and create a painting!

Art to the Clown

The Clown Gallery

Today is a busy day... I am delivering my work - 28 pieces total - to The Clown Gallery in York for my solo show which will run the months of November and December.

The Artist's Reception is a wine-tasting from 5-8 PM on Friday night November 13. Sounds delightful and a bit luxurious!
Also, because alcohol is being served, no one under 18 is allowed to the wine tasting/reception (per Maine law) but are welcome to visit the show at other times. The Clown is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 6pm.
