Today was the first day with Lorenzo Chavez - he did a great demo. He encouraged us to sketch our scenes first, so I did. I focused on a simple scene with pine tree trunk in front of a white building as my setting (see my sketch). I used pink Canson paper, the smooth side, to pastel on. To keep the energy of the sketch, I used the hatched technique with my pastels. Unfortuantely, I felt my finished piece lacked the spontaneity of my sketch, so it went into the round file!
