Sofia, Lily & Hunter Step 1

On 7/24/09 I posted the initial photos and information about my adorable King Charles Spaniels Commission! The first Preliminary Sketch: Sofia, Lily & Hunter was posted 7/31. On 9/3 I did a Revised Sketch: Sofia, Lily & Hunter. Now, back from my trip, I am ready to work on it! I started painting the portraits this week and have posted the drawing above which was done on UArt sanded pastel paper that I tinted orange. The major photos I'll be using for reference are collected and on a large board next to the painting on the easel. I have about a dozen more photos available in the studio of the sweeties in case I need more information.

In Step 1, I blocked in color for my subject. The next step is to block in the background - check back tomorrow!
