Wyoming Cowboy Story

Spooky and his cowboy

Spooky, the paint and Amos peeking around on the left!

Handing out treats

While I was in Wyoming, I met a cowboy and his friend, with 4 horses and a burro (Amos). They stayed overnight in the same motel I was in. I had seen the horses the night before but it was too dark to take pictures of them. In the morning when I went to the corral around 6:30 am to photograph them, they were preparing to leave. Two of the horses, the paint and Spooky, were adopted BLM mustangs. They were going elk hunting. The burro and the paint were readied to carry gear and the other 3 horses were for riding. They could each get one elk, which he told me was enough to feed them and their families all year - he didn't eat beef. I didn't get all their names but it doesn't matter... he represents all Wyoming cowboys with their horses. He told me his wife thinks he loves his horses more than her! Now that's a true cowboy and the romance of the West!
