These celestial prancing horses embody the spirit of the fabled ceremonial war horses of the Middle Ages. The image of power and prestige, these horses were differentiated by use, not by breed, and differed in size, build and breed from our current-day horses.

The basic four categories that horses fell into were chargers or 'war horses', palfreys or 'riding horses', cart horses and packhorses. The most well-known medieval war horse is the destrier, famed for carrying knights into war. A well-trained, strong, fast and agile mount, the destrier was highly prized by knights and men-at-arms, and often put on show in pageants and for ceremonial purposes.
