Horses (and other animals) can teach us so much if we let them. When I work with Star at the Ever After Mustang Rescue, I've learned and continue to learn many things... how to be patient, how to slow down, how to be serene, how to persevere, how to be respectful, how to be less self absorbed, not to be cocky or self-fulfilling and think of other greater things, how to carry myself and know what my body language is saying, how to trust, how to communicate without words, how to open my heart and be her companion...

Pet Portrait Demo in Pastel

Refining and subsequent layers... Almost ready to paint his large eyes!

This is Basil, a handsome Jack Russell terrier. Here are 3 stages of the pastel portrait in progress. The image is 9"x12". Check back tomorrow for the finished painting!

The sun is the great and universal symbol of the 'Higher Self' - the central source of 'Light and Life' within the soul. The sun is revered for its power; it's the provider of warmth, facilitator of crops, and the great bearer of light.

The 'meander' symbol represents 'the journey', not the destination; the flow of life - eternal life, eternal love and eternal friendship. The horse is the ideal physical manifestation of both.
