White horses carry a great significance in mythologies around the world. They pull the sun chariot, carry warrior-heroes, patron saints and the world’s savior. Pegasus, the winged horse, is white.
Other myths and tales tell of white horses that are divinatory, who prophesy or warn of danger; that triumph over negative forces. These magnificent steeds, whether visionary or metaphorical, are found in liturgical sources preserved in on-going traditions.
